Utility Rate Forecasting
MGT provides management consulting for electric, gas, water and wastewater utilities and other enterprise funds. MGT can help your agency determine the impact on your utility should you anticipate a significant change in your purchase power costs, or increases in fuel costs (if you have an electric utility), or if you are initiating a major capital project for your water or electric utility.
Utility Rate Forecasting Model - Do you know what the impact is on your utility should you anticipate a significant change in your purchase power costs, or increases in fuel costs (if you have an electric utility), or if you are initiating a major capital project for your water or electric utility?
Do you, your council or board receive sufficient warning with regards to necessary changes in your rates? Do you have a tool that will enable you to quickly and easily quantify the impacts of these issues or to allow you to do "what if" analysis?
If the answer is no, we believe we may have a product of some interest. This model:
- produces forecasted statements of Cash Receipts and Expenditures for ten years that mirror existing financial statements as traditionally reported, and includes receipts over (under) expenditures, fund balances and approximate rate increases needed by year
- is fully customizable and is tailored to each specific utility
- is recommended for use by water and wastewater utilities and other enterprise funds (not just electric and natural gas utilities)
- has the ability to forecast sales by individual rate classification
- forecasts all utility revenue funding sources, not just sales of electricity or water
- is able to forecast personnel salaries not only by department, but by job title, individual position, or name, if desired
- is able to forecast non-labor expenditures by individual line item with unique "inflationary' increases linked at the line item level
- includes forecasts of all departmental O&M, transfers, debt service, depreciation/bond and interest - any item funded by the water or electric utility
- is specifically customized to each client but is still very affordable.
