Performance Auditor/Consultant

MGT’s Sacramento office is seeking an individual with the versatility to serve as a consultant and an auditor within our expanding organization. MGT desires candidates with at least two years of experience conducting performance audits of state and local governments, school districts, or other public entities. We seek candidates with excellent analytical skills and an interest in using these abilities to provide value-added services to the public sector. We are particularly interested in adding someone to our team who enjoys a challenging, dynamic, and creative work environment. You will be asked to work collaboratively, think analytically, and communicate effectively to support projects that are focused on improving the public sector. General responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Conducting on-site fieldwork at client offices to analyze a variety of areas, including operations, systems, business processes, and data. Travel (average of 30 percent of time) is required.
- Providing support to project team members on a variety of projects that require conducting research through document reviews, internet searches, and interviews.
- Preparing written reports and other products for clients.
- Meeting and communicating with clients on an ongoing basis, such as presenting reports on work that has been performed and explaining the results.
- Building client relations, marketing services to current and potential clients, and developing proposals.
- Performing other specific tasks as assigned by senior staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- A minimum of two years of experience conducting performance audits of state and local governments, school districts, or other public entities.
- Working knowledge of governmental accounting, "Yellow Book Standards," and other relevant accounting and auditing standards and practices.
- Prior experience, and/or a demonstrated interest and knowledge of the public sector.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills—written and oral.
- Ability and interest in working in a fast-paced, deadline oriented work environment.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision as well as on a team.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong personal computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Additional Desirable Attributes Relevant to Auditing:
- Licensed as a Certified Public Accountant.
- Familiarity with computer aided audit tools and techniques, such as Audit Command Language (ACL).
- Familiarity with laws, regulations, and issues pertaining to education, K-12 programs, and charter schools.
- A desire to build and expand the audit practice nationwide.
