| Dallas County, TX Assessment of Probation Services |
MGT completed a comprehensive review of the current policies, procedures and operational practices of the Dallas County Probation Services Department. This assessment included a review of the organizational structure; management strategy; the effectiveness of the evidence-based supervision strategy; and, a review of the utilization and operation of the special treatment programs offered by the department. |
| Louisiana Department of Public Safety Assessment of Supervision Guidelines |
The Louisiana Department of Public Safety retained the services of MGT to assess the effectiveness of the Division of Probation and Parole's policies and procedures for the supervision of offenders under its jurisdiction. This assessment was conducted through interviews with staff at all levels within the Division; analysis of relevant statistical data on the nature, location, and frequency of technical violations; assessment of the existing supervision guidelines; and on-site observation of the practices of staff in implementing and enforcing these standards. The objective of this assessment was to develop and implement revised procedures and practices that result in a reduction of the commitment of technical probation and parole violators to correctional facilities of the Department. |
| Criminal Justice Policy Council of the District of Columbia Halfway House Assessment |
MGT was retained by the Criminal Justice Policy Council of the District of Columbia to determine the reasons for the reported high level of absconders from halfway houses operated in the District on behalf of the Federal Bureau of Prisons. MGT assisted JFA Associates, who was the prime contractor for this project, in completing this assessment. MGT submitted a final report that outlined the factors associated with the high absconder rate, profiled the demographics of those involved, analyzed the incidents of escape and the contributing factors, and recommended actions that if implemented could reduce this rate |
| Texas Department of Criminal Justice Assessment of Parole Violation Practices |
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), Parole Division, retained the services of MGT and consultants from the Institute of Crime, Justice, and Corrections at GeorgeWashingtonUniversity, to assess the effectiveness of the Division’s policies and procedures for the supervision and management of offenders under its jurisdiction. This assessment was conducted through interviews with staff at all levels within the Division; analysis of relevant statistical data on the nature, location, and frequency of technical violations; assessment of the existing supervision guidelines; and on-site observation of the practices of staff in implementing and enforcing these standards. | Marion County, Oregon Organizational Assessment and Division Review of the Sheriff's Office |
MGT conducted a comprehensive organizational assessment of the Marion County Sheriff's Office. The project began with a high-level overview of the Institution and the Law Enforcement divisions with an emphasis on financial drivers, departmental organization and administration. In addition, the project team reviewed the law enforcement division's calls for service data obtained from the dispatch system and deployment practices. Following the initial organizational assessment, MGT conducted a more in-depth review of the operations of both the department's Parole and Probations and Institutions Division, which included the county jail and work centers. Along with an operational review, staffing analysis, benchmarking and best practices analysis, MGT conducted a jail population projection study and an inmate classification study to ensure the county is maximizing the use of its current jail space. |
| DuPage County, Illinois Jail Population Projection Study |
DuPage County retained MGT to review the operation of the county's justice system and evaluate its programs to reduce jail crowding. MGT developed a 10 year projection of the county's jail population and developed simulation models of the impact of alternative jail population diversion programs. MGT also assessed the jail's health delivery system and identified measures to reduce costs while enhancing service delivery. |
| Sangamon County, Illinois Jail Study/ Population Review |
MGT provided Sangamon County with a comprehensive assessment of the County's jail population and potential strategies to better manage jail crowding. The project team developed a forecast of future population levels, review jail capacity utilization, and assessed alternative programs to manage jail population growth. The assessment produced recommendations and proposes program modifications that will enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the County criminal justice system. |
| Bexar County (San Antonio), Texas Criminal Justice System Review and Jail Population Study |
MGT conducted a criminal justice system and jail population study for Bexar County. Phase I included an assessment of the county's criminal justice system, preparation of an offender demographic study, and development of a jail population forecast model. Phase II was the development of an implementation plan to improve the efficiency of the county's justice system. MGT also reviewed the county's justice system. MGT also reviewed the county's data collection and sharing capabilities and develop Request for Proposals for a potential jail diversion program. |
